Your best defence is the ability to recognise, avoid, manage and survive real-world violence. KEF–IC is a practical self-protection system, aligned to the Australian Army Combatives Program, taught to civilians and professionals in Sydney.
Kinetic Fighting – Integrated Combat is a system of mental and physical training designed to instil a survival mindset while developing the skill sets to support it. It reflects the Australian Defence Force system to which it is aligned — the Army Combatives Program.
Courses focus on principle-based learning for faster uptake and flexibility in application. Kinetic Fighting was first developed to keep soldiers alive in war zones. Tailored now for everyday settings under common law, the goal of the training is unchanged: survive, no matter what.
The principles do not discriminate against the out-of-shape, physically challenged or inexperienced. They work because they are tactically and physiologically sound.
Built upon principles proven through military service, operational experience and decades of refinement.
Focused on simple, high-percentage skills that can be learned and applied under pressure.
Compatible with any martial art, defensive-tactics program or professional operating procedure.
A structured pathway that develops both capability and confidence, module by module.
Suitable for beginners, experienced martial artists, first responders and security professionals alike.
Alpha and Charlie are entry points — no prior training required. Select a module to see what it covers.

Your desired end state determines your path. Whether you want to sharpen existing martial-arts skills or take your first step toward a KEF–IC black belt, the place to start is Alpha or Charlie — no prior training required.
Alpha is a four-hour mix of theory and hands-on practice covering the key aspects of surviving a violent confrontation: mindset, tactics, legal and moral considerations, and functional, high-percentage techniques.
"‘Just run away’ is something we often hear from self-defence instructors — but running can turn you into prey."
Based in Sydney, Mark has trained in martial arts for over 35 years. His primary art is traditional Japanese karate, holding the rank of 5th dan Kyoshi in Jin Sei Ryu Karate under Kancho Ino Macquaring.
Seeking skills that bridge the gap from dojo to street, he trained in Kwan Nyam Hapkido under Grandmaster Geoff Booth, and in edged weapons with Guro Raymond Floro in Floro Fighting Systems. In KEF–IC, founder Paul Cale's reality-grounded system finally brought it all together into a well-rounded methodology to survive a violent encounter.
Mark is licensed as a Certified Instructor under Paul Cale from the first cohort of civilian instructors to complete the program. His teaching is detailed and pragmatic, appropriate for the size, age and skill level of every participant.
